This TAC Apparel thing has been quite the ride, from making our first stickers, to our very first shirts… Shit, at one point it was just a joke and a thought. Proof that you can turn nothing into something.
I came across some old Ads we ran throughout the years this morning and it was really cool reflecting on all the things that have happened to get us here. In general I find myself hating just about everything and sigh at some of the design choices, but hey I’m an artist, what do you expect. As we slowly get TAC back on track to a working, living and breathing company again its good to checkout what has brought us here, hopefully even trigger some new ideas. Anyways, take a look at some of these old masterpieces, hope you enjoy:
The Beach Go’er series. Our good buddy showed up and rocked the shit out of this hat and inner tube one sunny day down at 26th ave beach here in Santa Cruz:
This was the very first ad we ever ran in Foreverskim magazine. Still my favorite next to the beach go’er stuff
Here is myself getting tubed at 26th. Another example of our minimal design and cryptic messaging
Brahdda Lance Dettle was featured in this AD for vagrant magazine, not sure what year?
One of TAC’s originals, Dan Turner slicing one off the top at third ave
Not 100% sure if we ran this AD of Joey Pasquali anywhere, but this sequence will remain one of my all time favorites. Joey was one of the original people to kite board on a skimboard and really take it to the next level.
Finally another Foreverskim Ad, featuring myself. Not sure what year this was published either.
My good buddy Brad sent me this link to this super crazy story, well worth the watch:
Its been one hell of a year for me with this whole breaking of my leg and dislocating my ankle. I was literally on the couch for a good 4-6 months, 2 surgeries, and about 20 xtra Lbs, like I said, its been rough. As I have had a lot of time to reflect, complain, be bummed, depressed and all of the above, something that stands out to me is, just be thankful for everything you have, no matter what it is. Try not to complain about anything, and be happy with where you are in life. I think if anything at all, I can take all of this as a learning experience and just be happy that I can actually drop my board and run after it again, something I honestly thought I would never do again. Thanks be to God and to all my family and friends for helping me through these rough times, and prepare us all for more.
Photo Credit: Dusty Wood, thanks for sending this over dude!
I drew this hat up for my lovely girlfriend the other day, really stoked how it turned out, gonna have to do anotha!
I was happy to see this come in the mail today from my good friend and TAC Artist Brandon Rothe, thanks Brothe, you are the man!!!
Put in another solid session on the screenpress and busted these badboys out today, stoked to have instant gratification, its like no other. These shirts were really fun to screen, we actually just used one screen but blended the colors together creating a sweet effect. Im more than happy with the outcome, and better yet, each one is completely different from the last one. Hope you like, pick one up now before they are gondee….yew!
TAC’s very own, Nate Linford & Gueorgui Gueorguiev stopped by and paid me a little visit this week. I wanted to get them hooked up with a couple new tees and hangout with Nate before he left for college, yew! Not only did we watch the 80’s classic “Thrashin” but we snapped a few photos for the site in their new gear. Excited to get some new gear rolling, checkout Gueorgui in a sneak peak tee below.
…..and Nate, posing.
Put together a little video of team rider Mario Sandoval….check it out:
